Applying the Conservation Matrix Model in the Northwest Boreal LCC: Part I
Date: June 24, 2015
Presenter: Kim Lisgo, University of Alberta
Presenter: Kim Lisgo, University of Alberta
Summary:
The Canadian BEACONs Project (University of Alberta) is working with the Northwest Boreal LCC to identify candidate benchmark networks. BEACONs will give a high-level overview of the Conservation Matrix Model, a proactive approach to conservation planning, and the design of ecological benchmarks. The presentation will include datasets created for the NWB LCC planning region and examples of candidate benchmarks identified for the BLM Central Yukon and Bering Sea – Western Interior planning areas. The use of focal species in the design of benchmarks will also be briefly discussed.
