Summary:
The BEACONs Project (University of Alberta) is working with the Northwest Boreal LCC to identify candidate benchmark networks in support of comprehensive landscape conservation design. This work includes the use of focal species identified by the LCC Steering Committee to inform the evaluation and selection of candidate benchmark networks for the ecoregions of the NWB LCC planning region. This presentation will provide an overview of goals, measurable objectives (targets) and datasets compiled for focal species, an illustration of the use of focal species in the evaluation of benchmark networks, and a preview of a website for online access to results.
